Towards the end of 2006, a band approached Headline Records inquiring about the New York Punk Scene and potential venues. While I was well-versed in New York bands, my knowledge of clubs and venues, apart from CBGB, was limited. In the process of researching on Google, I stumbled upon an intriguing domain name that sparked a project idea: ShowsinNEWYORK.com. To my surprise, this highly generic domain name was available, prompting me to investigate further that same night. Astonishingly, all domain names beginning with "Shows in" were unclaimed. Seizing the opportunity, I began acquiring domain names for various countries (e.g., ShowsinFRANCE.com), major cities, and even in all capitals (e.g., ShowsinPARIS.com).
A few weeks later, in 2007, I established a S Corp: Shows in the US Inc. Initially, the concept was straightforward — to create a platform where bands, artists, and venues could showcase their shows, easily accessible to users based on their preferences. The "Shows in" brand simplified the search process, eliminating the need to scour Google for shows in a particular country or city. By simply entering "ShowsinGERMANY.com" for example, users could instantly access all the shows, bands/artists, and venues in Germany. As the project evolved, new ideas surfaced. In 2018, I developed an app and made the decision to rebrand from "Shows in" to "Local Shows." While the "Shows in" brand remains a significant part of the project, it now seamlessly integrates into the app, providing users with a comprehensive and user-friendly experience.

About Headline Records
Head Line Records store was established in September 1995 by Jean Luc Gaudry, affectionately known as "the French guy." Initially situated at the intersection of Westwood Blvd & Pico Blvd in Los Angeles, CA, the store relocated a year later to a spot just down Westwood Blvd. After another three years, Head Line Records found a new home on Melrose Ave, situated behind the Brooklyn Project store. Shortly thereafter, a more spacious location was secured, sharing the space with Dave Naze, a close friend and owner of Chaser Merchandising. Over the years, circumstances led to Chaser moving to a larger venue, prompting Head Line Records to transition to a smaller, adjacent location – the place where it stands today.
